Missed Calls narrates the story of Etuk Awot, a young amateur Nigerian actor, who is on his way to becoming a world-famous movie star. His script, alongside those of others, is competing for the number one position in Hollywood. The contents of the script begin to come to limelight and immediately assume a terrible significance in a familiar cultural milieu. Then anxiety sets in, and one wonders if he will win. Suddenly, a vision comes from nowhere which makes Etuk desirous of being a star he did not bargain for . . . Here comes the reality of unreality as Etuk Awot suddenly turns out to blaze a trail in a system he most abhorred. One cannot but wonder just how long this vision can last.
